Unsubscribe from newsletters and clean your inbox in a click
Updated
NeoCEO scans your newest inbox mail for newsletters and promotions, lists each sender with how many emails it sent you, and unsubscribes you when you say so. It works for one mailbox or for all the accounts you connected, and it can archive the backlog from senders you drop. Nothing happens until you confirm.
The problem: unsubscribing one email at a time
Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, hidden at the bottom in grey text. Using it means opening the email, finding the link, waiting for a web page and often answering a "why are you leaving?" form. Do that for forty senders and the cleanup never happens, so the inbox fills up again and the mail that matters gets harder to see.
How the Subscriptions view works
It finds the senders for you
Open the mail workspace and choose Subscriptions in the left column, next to Saved drafts. NeoCEO looks at the 100 newest messages in the inbox and picks out the ones that carry the standard unsubscribe header that legitimate mailing lists add (the List-Unsubscribe header). They are grouped by sender, with the number of emails, how many are unread and the latest subject, biggest senders first.
One account, or all of them
The switch at the top of the view scans the account you have open or every connected Gmail and IMAP mailbox at once. In the all-accounts view each row says which mailbox the sender writes to, and the unsubscribe is made from that same mailbox. If one account can't be read, the others still load and you see a notice.
Three ways to unsubscribe, picked for you
- One click. If the sender supports the one-click standard (RFC 8058), NeoCEO sends the standard unsubscribe request to the address in the sender's own header. You never see a web page.
- By email. If the sender only accepts an unsubscribe email, NeoCEO sends a short message from the mailbox that received the newsletter. You confirm this in the dialog first.
- Open the page. If the sender offers only a link, NeoCEO gives you a button that opens its unsubscribe page in a new tab. Nothing is sent for you in that case.
Clean the backlog, safely
A checkbox, on by default, also archives the existing inbox emails from the senders you unsubscribe from, up to 50 per sender in one go. They are archived, not deleted, so you can still find them in Archive. Tick several senders and unsubscribe from all of them in one confirmed action.
Safe by design
- You confirm first. No unsubscribe request or email goes out without your OK in the dialog, in line with NeoCEO's rule that nothing leaves without your confirmation.
- The target comes from the email. The address is read on the server from the message's own header. The browser never supplies a URL or an address, so the feature can't be turned into a way to send mail or requests anywhere else.
- Public addresses only. One-click requests use the same protection against internal addresses as the rest of NeoCEO, do not follow redirects and send only the fixed one-click body.
- Your mail stays yours. Unsubscribing and archiving happen in your own mailbox. Conversations and mail are not used to train NeoCEO's models; see the privacy policy.
What it does not do
It only sees senders that include an unsubscribe header and that appear in the newest 100 inbox emails, so run it again after a while to reach older senders. It doesn't unsubscribe you from spam: for mail from senders you don't know, report it as spam in your mail app instead, because confirming an address to a spammer can bring more mail. Outlook and Microsoft 365 accounts are not supported. Gmail and any IMAP/SMTP mailbox are.

When another tool fits better
- You use Outlook or Microsoft 365. Clean Email connects them; NeoCEO does not.
- You want cleanup rules that keep running on their own. Clean Email can keep cleaning incoming mail by rules; NeoCEO's Subscriptions view acts only when you press the button.
- You want a daily digest of the newsletters you keep. Unroll.Me and Leave Me Alone roll subscriptions into one digest; NeoCEO has no rollup.

Unsubscribe and cleanup: questions
Does NeoCEO unsubscribe me without asking?
No. You choose the senders and confirm in a dialog before anything is sent. If you select several senders you confirm once, and the dialog tells you when some of them will receive an unsubscribe email from your own mailbox. Nothing runs in the background and nothing is scheduled: the Subscriptions view acts only when you press the button, in line with NeoCEO's rule that sending an email or changing your data always waits for your explicit OK.
Will it delete my emails?
No. The optional cleanup moves a sender's existing inbox emails to Archive, up to 50 per sender in one action, and you can switch it off with the checkbox. Nothing is permanently deleted, so a receipt or a code from an archived email is still found by search, and you can move the messages back to the inbox. If a sender has more than 50 emails, run the action again to continue.
Does it work with several mailboxes?
Yes. Scan the account you have open, or all connected Gmail and IMAP mailboxes together. In the all-accounts view each row names the mailbox the sender writes to, and each unsubscribe is made from that same mailbox, so the sender sees the address that was actually subscribed. If one account can't be read, for example because its password changed, the others still load and you see a notice. Outlook and Microsoft 365 accounts are not supported.
Why is a newsletter I get missing from the list?
Either it isn't among your 100 newest inbox emails, or the sender doesn't include the standard unsubscribe header, which some small senders leave out. Open the email and use the unsubscribe link inside it, or run the scan again later, after more mail has arrived. Mail already in Archive, Trash or other folders is not scanned. If a sender keeps writing after you unsubscribed, report its messages as spam in your mail app.
Is it safe to unsubscribe automatically?
For mailing lists you signed up to, yes: that is what the header exists for. For spam, it's better to report the message as spam. NeoCEO reads the unsubscribe target only from the email's own header on the server, sends one-click requests only over HTTPS to public addresses, never follows redirects and ignores any extra fields in an unsubscribe email address. Your mail and conversations are not used to train our models. The privacy policy has the details.
